What Is Invisalign?

Posted on 7/15/2016 by Anthony M. DiCesare
A doctor holding up a pair of Invisalign braces.Invisalign is sometimes referred to as clear braces, or invisible braces. A modern twist on a traditional dental treatment, Invisalign straightens teeth differently than braces. Together, we create the look you are hoping to achieve for your teeth using specialized software.

With the end goal in mind, we order the Invisalign product, which consists of several plastic molded forms that precisely fit over your teeth.

Each plastic form will slowly move your teeth into the desired position, the patient changes the to the next plastic form in the series after a couple of weeks of wear. Invisalign has been found to be faster, less painful, less office appointments, and above all, invisible to the rest of the world.

What can Invisalign cure?

Invisalign can give you a beautiful smile and correct dental issues due to the placement of your teeth. Some of the common dental complaints that are fixed by Invisalign include:

•  Cosmetic Problems: - The way our teeth look can have a huge impact on how we look as a whole. Having clean, straight, bright looking teeth can give you self confidence and improve your smile. Invisalign is increasingly becoming the treatment of choice. Invisalign can help teeth that are twisted, crooked, overcrowded, gapped, spaced unevenly or tilted are just some of the conditions that can be fixed with Invisalign.
•  Maloccluded Teeth: - Meaning teeth are not in their correct position, and therefore not aligned right, which affects a patient's bite. Having a bite out of position can lead to improper wearing of your teeth, jaw issues, pain and even migraines. Invisalign can assist in giving a patient teeth teeth that last longer, improve their oral health and can even assist in your overall physical health.
•  Snoring: - Invisalign may be able to assist a patient who has issues with snoring and sleep apnea. By correcting alignment issues, Invisalign can widen your airways, assisting in a better night's sleep. By re-arranging the placement of your teeth with the Invisalign product, you may be able to open airways and breathe better while you sleep. For many patients, this has helped prevent them from needing any further sleep apnea treatment.
