Posted on 9/13/2015 by Anthony M. DiCesare
A woman about to receive her dental checkup. The change of the seasons and the back-to-school atmosphere has everyone changing habits and routines. Why not use this time to get your dental check-up? Whether your kids need back-to-school checkups or it is for yourself, now is a great time to make sure that everything is looking good in your mouth. A check-up takes very little time yet can save you a lot of headaches and even money down the road.

Did you know that by getting regular checkups, you can even enhance the status of your overall health?

Stay Healthy this Fall
It is no secret that people begin to get sick come the fall and winter months. As we become more cooped up in our homes and spend more times indoors at schools and public places, the germs start flying. You might wonder what this has to do with your oral health, but there is a direct connection. If you have a buildup of plaque and bacteria in your mouth, you can harbor germs in your mouth that would otherwise have been removed if your mouth was healthy. This may not mean that you will get colds and the flu, but it could increase your chances. Wouldn't you rather have a healthy mouth, giving you the best chance at fighting infections as the weather gets cooler?

Don't Miss Work
Dental issues can cause you to miss work or events because of the pain and the subsequent recovery required for the procedures that you need to have performed. Getting a dental check-up early on can help to minimize the type of procedures needed, allowing you to go on with life as normal. Why put off what can be done today? The changing seasons is a great time to put yourself first and get your life in order. Fall is a very transitional season with so many schedules and habits changing, making it a great time for everyone to get on board with their oral health, allowing them to miss less work and fun the rest of the year!

Get Healthy Advice
Sometimes we all get so stuck in our bad habits that we do not even realize that they are bad. Summer is a time of fun and games, which usually means not focusing on nutrition and oral health habits. Take the time to come in for a check-up and to get back on track with your nutrition. We will help you assess the risks that are occurring in your mouth and give you advice on how to change them. Maybe you are eating unhealthy foods; you started drinking a little more alcohol; or you picked up a smoking habit. All of these habits wreak havoc on your oral health, but we can help you kick those habits to the curb. Just coming in for a check-up and cleaning can be a great reminder that you need to get your life back on track and your habits in line for optimal oral and physical health.

Don't skip your oral health check-up this fall - get your health back where it needs to be! If it has been a while since you have had a proper professional tooth cleaning and check-up, the fall is the best time to do it. Get your oral health in order before winter hits and allow yourself to enjoy the festivities of the holidays without pain. Tooth decay, infection, and gum disease can really put a damper on your festivities. Get a check-up today to get any of these conditions under control and then enjoy the changing seasons and the fun that is yet to come.
